On January 19th, 2012, the Interact Club of Morris Knolls High School hosted members of the Denville Rotary Club for a special luncheon. The Interact Club within Rotary International acts as a real Rotary Chapter, providing the perfect environment in which to learn what “Service Above Self” truly means at a a much younger and impressionable age.

The Rotary Interact Club gives us a real chance to set the tone early on in our children’s lives, teaching younger generations the value of service to community and the power of volunteerism.

Access to Clean Water & Sanitation – Rotary International

Rotarians world-wide are seeing through to the completion of a Clean Water Project which began in 2009. Clubs from Brussel-Cantersteen, Belgium and Tamatave, Madagascar were spurred into action due to a serious lack of clean drinking water in Toamasina, Madagascar, contributing to the area’s poor hygiene and high mortality rate.

There are clean water projects currently underway in other countries around the world, emphasizing the scale of the problem for hundreds of thousands of families. These include India, Uganda, Guatemala, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mongolia, Niger, and Argentina.

On Polio…

Polio is…

A crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease, polio (poliomyelitis) still strikes children mainly under the age of 5 in countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Polio can cause paralysis and sometimes death. Because there is no cure for polio, the best protection is prevention. For as little as $.60 worth of vaccine, a child can be protected against this crippling disease for life.
It can cause paralysis within hours, and polio paralysis is almost always irreversible.
In the most severe cases, polio attacks the motor neurons of the brain stem, causing breathing difficulty or even death.
Historically, polio has been the world’s greatest cause of disability.

If polio is not eradicated, the world will continue to live under the threat of the disease. More than 10 million children will be paralyzed in the next 40 years if the world fails to capitalize on its $5 billion global investment in eradication.
